Writing Poetry

You're going to write some Shape Poems. A shape poem is a special kind of poem that is written so the words make a picture.


Click on the titles below to read some Shape Poems.








Are you ready to write a shape poem? Click here and type your name. Read about shape poems and when you are ready click on "Select a Theme." Pick a category and then a picture. When you get to the page that says "Think of Words," write your list on paper instead of typing them. When you have a good list of words, click "Continue" and then type your poem. When you are done, you may print 1 copy.

We're going to briefly look at 6 websites which all have great possilibities for the classroom. I hope you find something here you can use!

Storybird A digital story-telling site. Kids write a story using the provided pictures. Books are published on the web to share.

Sketchfu This is an online whiteboard. You can draw images and play them back. Students can draw story maps, solve problems, and more! You could also model letter formation as you teach handwriting.


Some Math Sites:

Math Playground A site with worksheets, logic puzzles, and other math content. Mostly for intermediate.

Bitesize Math You'll find an interactive math site here, but be sure to check out the activities for English and Science too! Mostly for intermediate

Primary Games A site for the little ones. Explore other content areas too.

And my new favorite - Prezi
This online presentation software is like Powerpoint on steriods. Great visual way to present information to your students!

Good morning! Are you ready to get the ball rolling? Hey, I think that's an idiom. Well let's work on some idioms first then.

Take an idiom quiz. When you are done, raise your hand and let me see how you did.
